RD Chan Appointed BIMP-EAGA Coordinator

Cagayan de Oro – Regional Director Catalino Chan of the Regional Tourism Office 10 is now the new coordinator of the Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines- East Asian Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) joint tourism cluster representing the country’s program.


He was appointed by Tourism Secretary Ace Durano lately to led in boosting tourism image and projects for the East Asian Region.


“Indeed I am thankful to the secretary and this will boost our Mindanao promotion and the whole Minsupala Region to include Palawan and Sulu Provinces in our campaign in Eco Tourism and Adventure Tourism destinations.” He said.


BIMP-EAGA is now dubbed and called the “Equator Asia” as its brand name in Tourism promotions of which its priorities are eco-tourism, adventure tourism, strengthening the air and water linkages, and identify tourism destination to all four countries as a whole.


“Especially our Mindanao Islands of which is very divers in potentials and destinations.” He adds.


Together with the Department of Tourism( DOT) and the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) has initiated to map out and identify tourism destination. In Region 10 alone with its 5 provinces and 3 cities is on the map.


In Bukidnon- Lake Apo in Guinoroyan Valencia City, Kaamulan Park in Poblacion ,malaybalay City, and Obrero Farm in San Miguel,Manolo Fortich. In Misamis Oriental a canopy walk in the Barangay Mag-bais,town of Claveria, Agutayan Islang in Jasaan, Twin Dives in Duka Resort and Magtangale-Alibuag Dive Resort in both Balingo-an and Medina, Mantianak Zoological Park in Sugbongcogon and the Lasang Park in Initao.


Meanwhile in Gingoog City, Tiklas Falls and Odiongan River in Barangay Lawit and Hindangon. In the island of Camiguin the host of the Lanzones Festival is the whole island. In the City of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de oro, white Water Rafting in Barangay Ugbayan and Mambuaya, the Gardens of Malasag and the Mapawa Nature Park again in Cugman.


In far west, Iligan City has the Hindang Falls, Ma Cristina Falls and the Timoga Cold Spring and the Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral Homes in Ditucalan and Buru-un. In its province Lanao del Norte Tinago Falls in Linamon, Mindana Civic Center in Tubod, Cathedral Falls in Kapatagan and the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Beach in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao Norte.


In Misamis Occidental, it is the Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP) and the Dolphin Island in Sinacaban, Tangub Highland Gardens in Barangay Hoyohoy, Tangub City, and the Misamis Occidental Economic & Research Development Center in Oroquieta City and Fort of Nuestra dela Concepcion Y del Triunfo in Ozamis City.


RD Chan further said the being the gateway to Northern Mindanao, the Laguindingan International Airport will be tap as one of the airlink port of the BIMP-EAGA Region.


With the Mindanao Tourism and Transportation Highway Map Project , Northern Mindanao Region will become one of the eco-tourism and adventure tourism destinations to be part and parcel of the Equator Asia.
