Erap Keynotes Eagles 28th National Congress

al convention in Cagayan de Oro last night, and confirmed as the President emeritus of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Philippine Eagles by the Nati

onal Charter President Nilo Raymundo and the National Headquarters of the Philippine Eagle undr the presidency of

President Vic Avila.


The former Philippine President Joseph E. Estrada assailed the government for making t

he country the most dangerous place in the world for journalists. as of this writing, 30 journalist had been killed

with the infamous Maguindanao Massacre last November 23, in Sharif Aguak, Maguindanao were 59 peop

le perished.


Erap Estrada, who keynoted the convention and administered the oath for new members o

f the socio-civic organization, called for a moment of silence to pray for the victims of the Maguindanao massacre, of which after h

is message he personally shared 50-T donation to the bereaved family of Kuya Alejan

dro “Bong” Reblando-Correspodent for Manila Bulletin. Kuya Reblando is a member of the General Santos City Eagles Club.


In his message, Erap He also lamented the increase in poverty and hunger in the Philippines, citing surveys.


On the other hand, he said that during his administration the country was recovering economical

ly and that it had survived the Asian financial crisis. He pointed out in particular his ERAP project, the Eco

nomic Recovery through Agricultural Production, which helped in achieving economic growth.

Rodriguez as the “father of the Philippine Eagles.” “This Eagle,” said Rodriguez “was unconstitution

ally, illegally and immorally removed from the presidency.”

y party-mates of the Partido ng Masang Pilipino, including senatorial candidate Joey de Venecia III and Congressman

Rodolfo Plaza who was sworn in to the PMP during Estrada stint in Cagayan de Oro City.


The former Philippine president and De Venecia held a meeting of their party at the Pryce Plaza Hotel where they were met by Cagayan de Oro Vice Mayor Vicente Emano who is running for mayor of the city in the 2010 elections. Who’s running mate will be former city councilor Juan Sia.


Also running under the PMP banner are former city councilor Benjo Benaldo for the 1st District of Cagayan de Oro; Rep. Rufus Rodriguez for the 2nd District; Atty. Michael Paderanga and a son of former congressman Victorico Chaves for the governorship and vice governorship of Misamis Oriental; provincial board member Peter Unabia for the 1st congressional district of Misamis Oriental; and incumbent 2nd District Rep. Bambi Emano.


Unabia has been chosen by the party following the death of erstwhile congressman Danilo Lagbas. Rep. Emano, who is still in his first term of office, is no longer running under the present administration.


And the former President Estrada together with his Vice President Jojo Binay and his 10 senatorial slate will file their certificate of candidacy tomorrow, as well as the provincial candidates, while the Cagayan de Oro City candidates will file their COCs on December 1.


Meanwhile for Iligan City, Erap together with Vice Mayor Emano, the PMP Regional Chairman for Northern Mindanao sworn in the former Mayor Franklin Quijano who will run for the mayorship. Mayor Quijano will be facing incumbent mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz who turncoat to the Liberal Party. (PJTremedal)
