E.O.817 Extended, PNP-PPO-MisOcc gets 1,196 FA’s

Oroquieta City – The fear of being caught without a gun license and face legal action pursuant to Executive Order 817 or the Final Gun Amnesty, gun holder has the last chance to avail for it is extension up to November 30, 2009.


The said extension was received by the Misamis Occidental PNP Provincial Police Office under the command of Police Senior Superintendent Leonilo T. Cabug from Camp Crame and signed by the Chief PNP General Jesus Versoza.


Signed by the President, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo dated October 30, 2009, the gun amnesty pursuant to E.O. 817 has been extended but for one month only. After the one month extension, no application will be entertained for gun license renewal.


In Region 10, Police Chief Superintendent Danilo Empedrad emphasized to his entire commander to conduct massive information to avail the last one month extension. All City, Municipal and provincial Police office must do its job.


It may be recalled that there are 41,589 FA’s (un-renewed, un-registered, from threat groups, and other criminal elements) must be accounted.


“ As of October 31, within the four months campaign, Northern Mindanao gathered 8,083 FA’s only, this is 19.44% of the three percent limit from Higher Headquarters from the population of all over region 10”. Said, P/SSUPT Gerardo Rosales PNP-Region 10, Chief of Operations.


As of October 31, PNP Region 10 has the total FA’s gathered in its cities and provinces, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office gathered 2,147 FA’s from a baseline of 6,083 (33%), Bukidnon-1,301(9,326 baseline) 13.95%, Misamis Occidental-1,196(7,626 baseline) 15.60%, Misamis Oriental-499(5,018 baseline) 9.94%, Camiguin-92(169 baseline) 36.8%, Lanao Norte-731 (10,916 baseline) 6.70% and Iligan City Police Office-841 (2,057 baseline) 39%.


In an interview, P/SSUPT Cabug said that the Misamis Occidental PNP Police Office reiterate that the extension of the gun amnesty will give chances to those who want to renew their firearms, while to those who belongs to the loose firearms, this is again your very chances to surrender.


“I am appealing for those who had not renewed their firearms and to those who has unregistered firearms, please do it and avail the last month of the gun amnesty or face the action of the law” He said.
