By PJTremedal

Oroquieta CityAs people turn into man made technology, the era of information technology is not far from the truth in this city in Northern Mindanao. The world wide web of the internet who was born in the western world way back in the 60’s is not a reason that people of Oroquieta will be sad about it as it breaks it back to cope with the turn of times.

In the Philippines, it has been said that we are far behind with due respect to ITees. however, because of the eagerness of every Filipino, young and old, the world wide web is now the call of both alike.

As means of communication and development, to learn the world of information technology is not an easy thing for the Filipinos but they cope up with the era of information.

In this part of the country, thru the initiatives of a young city dad, first timer Jason Almonte who wins as number one city dad did not think about the behind-ness of his people in respect to the information technology.

“ It is not true that we are way, way behind, we have internet cafes all over Oroquieta, but I agree that how to learn is not an easy thing to do especially our folks” Almonte said.

Being the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism and Development, He planned out an exciting plan to become the first of its kind, making the city plaza a Wi-Fi zone.

“ With the initiative, I will make the city one of its kind.”

Almonte who is also an internet buff, Facebook, Twitter, other social networks, e-mails, websites, and other things found in the internet is the road for a new trend in education.

Being a businessman before he became a legislator, Internet is his guide to be become a successful one.

“But I have to share this, that is why I push it thru with the approval of my father and colleagues” He stressed.

The said project is now on its finishing phase, with a grant of 2 million for equipments and gadgets plus the original the project cost, Oroquieta will be a Wi-Fi city.

Meanwhile, Jason told this paper that with his fathers footsteps and the 5 point agenda of the administration, he want to become the next City Mayor of Oroquieta. With some innovations in the setting done by Mayor Almonte(his father) for the past six years, being a neophyte, he will use new approaches in good governance.

“A dynamic change for Oroquieta” He quips.
