of the Philippine National Police in coordination with the Department of Education (DepED) and the Center for Higher Education (CHED) to safeguard pupils and students
in their first day of attending their classes.
In Zamboanga Del Sur, PNP Provincial Director
P/SSUPT Ochotorena said that, in every school year, especially in the opening of classes the police all over the province had been directe
d to implement the OPLAN to safeguard the student populace especially aga
inst all odds.
“It is our commitment to our children especially those in areas with socio-economic problems, and other societa
l problems like the proliferation of dangerous drugs of which drug dealers, drug hawks can possibly use the situation to distribute their evil deeds.” P/SUPT Ochotoren
a said.
It may be recall that the provincial government has campaigned in the red
uction of the illegal drugs and other substance that may school children, college students, and even faculties will be affected by the proliferation.
With the recent campaign against illegal distribution of the dreaded methamphetamine hydrochloride or otherwise known as “S
habu”, the police and other law enforcement units had engage and collared drug street pu
shers, and even known drug lords are now on the run to evade police entrapment and arrest.
“Yes we ha
ve succeeded but this will not sustained if other stakeholders of the community will not assist us, the prov
incial government had been helpful and made a strong stand against the illicit trading that affects
children, the younger generation and even professional” He added.
Meanwhile,
Pagadian City Police Chief,
P/CI Michael Palermo had
call upon school administrators, teachers, and the Parent Teaches and Community Associations (PTCA) to support and help the police in their campaign against illegal drugs.
“We cannot sustain this if they will not help us in countering the drug trading in the city. That is why I am calling upon all school administrators, teachers, the PTCA’s to support and help us.” P/CI Palermo said.
With the DepED random drug testing program, the city police is willing to look for remedies to help parents in drug test.
“The local PNP Crime Lab will help us and I will help to have a minimal payment for drug testing of students” he adds.
Private Drug Testing Centers costs every client 250-350 pesos for every test, the PTCA and their schools owners and administrators can coordinate with PNP to lessen the burden in drug testing, as the law (R.A.9165) said, drug testing costs will be shouldered by the government, but sad to say it cannot.
As this report filed, participants on the recent calling by the city police had agreed to help.
