Pagadian City - With a good weather condition government officials, workers, and the privat
e sector celebrates 111th year of Independence.
Themed this years, “Kagitingan, Kagalingan at Kasipagan Tungo sa Tunay na Kapayapaan” the celebration in this city became more memorable when the Regio
nal Office of the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment awarded two hundred fifty beneficiaries titles of their till lands with the government’s PGMA “Handog Titulo” and offered job contracts to hundred of workers thru the Comprehensive Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).
With the participation of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Charity Caravan 2009, the celebration made the day exciting and full of oneness and unity. As the celebrations kick-off the 40th Araw ng Pagadian, “As we celebrate the 111th year of Philippine Independence, we Pagadianon is proud to be Filipinos in our own way” Mayor Co said.
Obedience to authority, harmonious relations with every member of the community, strive to have good life, and keep peace a way of life is the main theme of the city mayor whose plan is to re-engineered the development of Pagadian into a place of development, trade and industry, and tourism potential.
Other guest and speakers like the Commanding General of the army’s 1st Infantry Division, Major general Romeo Lustestica and Provincial Governor Aurora Enerio Cerilles calls for unity in diversity, peace and development, a drug free society is independence itself. “It is our dream to be just and
humane” Gov Cerilles said.
As peacekeepers, MGen Lustestica added flavor to the celebrations theme” Our fight against the social menace (the proliferation of illegal drugs), Poverty and Security problem in our midst is our very concern to achieve this dream of independence” He said.
“Let every member of the community help our government to face this challenge to fulfill the dream of independence as we face another year of commemoration”, MGen Lustestica added.
