Pagadian A (H1N1) Negative, CHO Says

Pagadian City - “There are no reported cases on influenza A(H1N1) virus here,” Dr. Noel Ceniza, City Health Officer declared in an interview with PIA.

Ceniza said the city government is doing an information campaign on A (H1N1) including orientation in public and private schools and different offices to increase awareness on the dreaded disease.

“We are not focusing only on the A (H1N1) but also dengue and typhoid fever,” Ceniza said, adding that “dengue and typhoid cases have risen alarmingly as evidenced by the increased number of patients admitted in hospitals suffering from these diseases.”

Ceniza explained that from January to April this year, there were 85 reported cases of dengue fever. “It is expected to increase in the months of May and June due to heavy rains,” Ceniza said.

City health officials are intensifying their campaign against dengue since there is no known cure or vaccine to fight dengue fever, which is transmitted by a day-biting white-spotted mosquito known as Aedes Aegypti. (PIA-9 Pagadian City)
