MANILA, Philippines – A lawyer-broadcaster was stabbed to death in broad daylight in the island province of Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday, the local police said.
According to investigators, Crispin Perez,66, former vice governor of the province, had just finished his radio program when the attack happened in Barangay 7 in San Jose town at about 9 a.m.
On his way out of the radio station, a man posing as someone needing legal assistance, approached the former vice governor and shortly after stabbed the victim many times.
PO2 Larry Hilario of the Occidental Mindoro tactical operation told GMANews.TV that Perez was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police authorities have yet to determine if the assault was related to his work as a lawyer, a broadcaster, or as a former public official. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
