Army Officer Died as PUB collide with a Military Vehicle

Nilo, Tigbao, ZDS – An army officer died on the spot when his ridden military vehicle collide with a passenger bus along the national highway at Barangay Nilo, Tigbao, this province end of last month, May 2009.


In a belated police report from the Tigbao PNP Station disclosed that, 1LT Julius Cesar Miranda, officer and member of the 53rd Infantry Battalion based in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur is one of

the ill-fated military vehicle passenger that collided with a Rural Transitof Mindanao Inc. (RTMI)bus was declared by attending physicians dead on arrival (DOA) as they were rushed ina hospital together with other injuries passengers both of the military vehicle and the passenger bus.


Further, PNP Tigbao reported that the passenger bus of RTMI with plate number JVK-864 driven by a certain Eusebio Gicale with driver license KO4-73-004454 was traversing from Zamboanga City and upon reaching in the vicinity of the national highway in Barangay Nilo, Tigbao collided with a military vehicle KM-450 with plate number SHY-335 driven by a certain PFC Abraham Muhairan of the 53rd Infantry Battalion which accordingly traveling towards Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.


With the impact of the colliding vehicles, some passengers of both vehicles were reported injured and rushed to the hospital and treated with emergency medical attention except for the army officer who was declared DOA.


Injured were; Teresita Cruz, 57 years old, and Jimmy Yap, 55 years old, both DepED employee from Zamboanga City, Elsa Acuran of Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay and Neil Monton, 27 years old, Tigbao, ZDS. While in the military vehicle with reported injures and suffered minor wounds were identified as 1LT Norly Oropesa, a certain PFC Garmay. PVT Calago, PVT Silod and PVT Bartolome both members of the 53rd Infantry Battalion, 1ID, Philippine Army based at Camp Subido, Guipos, ZDS.


The Army vehicle driven by PFC Muhairan was reported positioned on the road accorsing the way of the bus while, the ill-fated RTMI bus turn upside down in her right side and landed extreme along the shoulder of the national highway.


Police further disclosed that the road was slippery due to rain shower during that ill-fated Friday morning. Both higher authorities of the Tabak Troopers and the local police are now fully investigating the tragic incident.
