It is a celebration of hope, confidence, empowerment and approval by the common tao of the services their government provides for them.
On this day, the Office of the President through the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will provide medical, dental and optical services to beneficiaries. PCSO symbolizes hope for the common tao and under the Arroyo administration; it has more than tripled its resources and charity funds for indigents and common folks alike. This has generated confidence among the poor in their government’s concern for them.
At the press conference held at the Philippine Information Agency Regional Office here, PCSO Regional Lottery Officer Raul Regondola said that during the ‘Common Tao Day’ 1,500 patients from Josefina town are expected to benefit from the medical-dental mission as well as eye check-up. Eye glasses will also be provided for free, Regondola added.
Several persons with disability (PWDs) will also be given wheel chairs and a patient who is undergoing dialysis will also be given medical assistance by no less than the President herself.
Earlier, 86 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) and Day Care Workers were oriented and are now ready to serve as “Kaibigan ng PCSO, Kaibigan ng Common Tao” Volunteer Program. These Kaibigans will serve as PCSO’s primary information and service persons in the barangays. Whenever the common tao seeks assistance, they can approach the Kaibigans, Regondola stressed. (PIA RO9)
