Hangop Kabataan Priest Kidnap!

Pagadian City – An Irish national priest was kidnap by more or less 6 armed men believed to be MILF members October 11 at 7:pm here in this city.


Father Michael Sinnot, 79 years old, a by-passed (heart) patient, and prime mover of the Hangop Kabataan, Inc. an NGO that help and support special children was forcibly kidnap by six armed men in his resident and bring him in Darusalam, Sta Lucia District in a mini-white van and escape riding a motorized banca after putting fire to the said mini van.


In a police update, Pagadian Police Chief, P/Chief Inspector Michael Palermo in a text message, confirmed the incident and believed that the suspects are members of the Lawless MILF group.




“We are now fully investigating the said kidnapping of Father Sinnot” Palermo in his text message.


Meanwhile in a radio interview with Bombo Radio, Monsignor Elmer Abacahin of the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) confirmed that (October 11,2009) Father Michael Sinnot was kidnapped by armed men inside his residence and bring him aboard a motorized banca to an unknown direction believed to be a forested areas within the boundary of Lanao and Zamboanga Sibugay, Msgr Abacahin related also to the radio, that if you can recall of the Father Mossi incident is the same to what had happened with Father Sinnot.


“Yes, If you can recall (in the interview) of the Father Mossi incident few years back, it is the same of the kidnapping of Father Sinnot” He said.


Father Sinnot who had a by-passed surgery was inside the compound when a man entering and ask the father’s house-help whether he is around. And when the house help said, yes, 3-4 armed men forcibly enter and warned them not to say anything or otherwise they will be harmed.


After they get Father Sinnot, they immediately get away on board a mini-white van and proceeded to the coastal area and escape, but some witnesses said that before they ride on board the motorized banca, the armed men put into fire the mini-van and escape riding the motorized banca.


Monsignor Abacahin told, Bombo Radio that they were informed after the incident by Monsignor Manuel Cabajar, Archbishop of the Diocese of Pagadian about the kidnapping.


Farther, the CBCP announced that the denounce the kidnapping of Father Sinnot, and a no ransom policy if the suspects will try to negotiate for the immediate release, but as of press time, no one claimed responsibility of the kidnapping, however as Pagadian PNP is now fully investigating said incident allege that rouge elements from the Lawless MILF Group (LMG) are there suspects in the kidnapping of Father Michael Sinnot.
