Maranao Sultan Appeals Fr. Mick Release; Prayer Rally launch

Cagayan de Oro City – A former PNP high ranking officer, now a regional director of a government office and incumbent Maranao Sultan of The Sultanate of Macadar Lanao del Sur , appealed to anyone who can led to the release of the kidnap Columban Father last October 11, 2009 in Pagadian City.


Sultan Col. Porcawa B. Dia (ret.), former high ranking PNP Officer of Region 9 and now, the Regional Director of the Land Transportation Office in Region 10 has issued a statement and appealed to those responsible to set free Father Michael Sinnot or Father Mick to his friends and supporters.

Sultan Porcawa Dia is a gentleman and officer of the Philippine National Police during his stint in Region 9 as the former Provincial Commander of Zamboanga del Sur and before his retirement become the Deputy Regional Director for Administration of the Regions Police Force.

Being a leader of his tribe becomes a Sultan of Macadar of Lanao Del Sur during his incumbency as Regional Director of the LTO-10 based in Cagayan de Oro. As a friend and known the kidnapped priest had shared his concern and let everyone knows that he is supporting by all MEANS TO THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF FR. MICK.

As the statement goes,

“The abduction of Rev. Father Michael Sinnott, an Irish Priest, and founder of the Hangop Kabataan Foundation,Unc. based in Pagadian City and caters to the needs of specialized Children, be it a lumad, a native, or a Christian child is unIslamic.

I am appealing to those responsible to set free and release the captive Columbian Priest without apparent ransom immediately because the aging missionary is sick, and therefore, he can not withstand the ordeal of his captivity.


Fr. Sinnott is a man of peace and his remaining years in life is dedicated to serve the most pitiful of special children who are afflicted with inborn infirmities that needed special care and attention by equally special people like Fr. Mick Sinnott.

Other retired police officer like Col. Arthur M. Dagalangit (ret) of the General Santos City Provincial Command had also share views with the sultan of Macadar of Lanao del Sur.


“A man of peace, like Fr. Sinnott should be help especially in these ordeal” He said.


Meanwhile, people of Pagadian, Muslims, Christians and the Lumads alike has come into the open and launch a prayer rally for the immediate release of Fr. Michael Sinnott in Pagadian City last October 17.(with Leah Agonoy, UFS)
