POPCOM-IX launches LPPEd in Congress and 4th ZPOWERS day

Pagadian City - - - Fight poverty. Educate girls. Respond to the economic crisis and invest in women as a smart choice, is today’s call of the Population Commission (POPCOM) in celebration of World Population Day.


Highlighting the celebration is the launching of the Learning Package on Parent Education on Adolescent Health and Development (LPPEd), a module for a program developed to equip parents with the necessary knowledge on adolescent sexual and reproductive health concerns as well as skills on how to communicate these concerns with their children.


Mayor Ace William Cerilles of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur expressed his gratitude to OIC Director Susan Tejada of POPCOM-IX for choosing his municipality where LPPEd activities will be piloted this year. Zamboanga del Sur Gov. Aurora E. Cerilles, Pagadian Mayor Samuel Co and a representative of Commissioner-at-Large Christopher Laurence S. Arnuco of the office of the National Youth Commission signed the declaration of support to the LPPEd after unveiling the learning packages in four (4) modules.


Presidential Assistant for Western Mindanao, Asec Crisanto B. de la Cruz commended the Zamboanga Peninsula Population Officers and Workers, Inc. (ZPOWERS, Inc.) for their laudable undertaking while Gov. Cerilles expressed her full support in managing the population growth. She mentioned the P4.04M the provincial government earmarked for the Response for Parenting Movement (RPM) through a memorandum of agreement she signed with POPCOM.


In line with this year’s celebration of World Population Day, the Commission on Population (POPCOM) in cooperation with ZPOWERS, Inc. held a three-day Annual regional Population Congress and the 4th ZPOWERS, Inc. general assembly. It is well attended by more than 200 population program officers and field workers from the four cities and three provinces of the Zamboanga Peninsula. (PIA9-Pagadian)
