Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay - As the accreditation for the party-lists in the entire country is undergoing, the 1Network Movement on the other hand, is solidifying its forces and increasing its memberships as other party-lists are groping to qualify as officially accredited party-lists organizations by the Commission in Elections.
But according to its officers, the 1Network Movement has since prepared for their accreditation as an officially-recognized party-list in the country representing a marginalized sector of the society. It was gathered that the movement has mass base in Luzon and Mindanao but has its roots in
The movement's accreditation as a party list in the Commission on Elections definitely is a prelude for their eventual participation in the 2010 elections, wherein it will lodge three (3) representatives in Congress to protect the interests and promote the ideals of the cellphone and internet users in the country.
The 1Network Movement is a group of cellphone and internet users nationwide who felt that they are being used, abused and exploited by service providers and telephone companies thus, has united for purposes of "formulating measures that would protect the rights and interests of the electronic communication users nationwide," and also use its vast power and potential to help in good governance, law enforcement, calamity and disaster-preparedness and response.
It has more than 100 chapters nationwide with thousand of members.
Meanwhile, COMELEC officials said that they are literally swamped with applications from aspiring party-list groups. The groups include cock-fighting aficionados, liquefied petroleum gas purveyors, security guards, call center agents, albularyos, among others.
COMELEC spokesman James Jimenez said that "if they truly belong to the marginalized and deserve representation in the government, then not even the COMELEC could stop them from participating in the party-list race. But we must understand that we will be strict in screening all applications in order to ensure that the party-list system is not put in ridicule and disdain."
