“We are winning the streets”- COP Palermo Says

By PJTremedal

Pagadian City – After a breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking in this southern city, scarcity of the dangerous drugs called “shabu” is now felt.

“We are winning the streets now” says COP Police Chief Inspector Michael Palermo in a recent interview with the media.

PCI Palermo sighted that with the effort and support from local executives both of the province and the city, the PNP campaign against drug traffickers is gaining grounds.

“With the recent incidents involving drug trafficking in the city and our no let up operation, plus with the increase of its price from a measly 100 pesos to 500 a sachet, “shabu” is now hard to find by users.” He said.

It may be recalled that with the Provincial Government effort to go against drug trafficking in the province once and for all, this made the police stronger as they see it as a full support for them.

Task Force Druga of the Cerilles Administration and the creation of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force (PAIDSOTF) of the PNP Provincial Command, no let up operations against the illegal drugs traffickers are now on the run.

Late this week, PAIDSOTF nets 600-T worth of illegal substances and paraphernalia’s from suspected drug traffickers and full scale investigation is on process.

PAIDSOTF when created by the PNP Command other law enforcement units are now getting involve in the campaign with the support of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) based in the province.

As of this report, PDEA, PNP-PAIDSOTF, City Police Force, Provincial Government TF “Druga” and other units are planning out operations to further the campaign down to the Barangay of Zamboanga del Sur.

With the DILG Memorandum Circular 2009-09 to all local executives down to the Barangay level adds weight in the local campaign against the illegal drugs and other substances.

“That is why we are asking the 54 Barangay chairman in Pagadian to help us thru their reports and to implement the DILG memorandum Circular in their undertakings.” COP Palermo added.
