Iligan City- Governor “Among” Ed Panlilio of Pampanga and in cooperation with the Tomas R. Cabili, Jr. Foundation hold a Consultative meeting with the media and all other sectors that was held in Maria Cristina Hotel on May 16, 2009, this city.
Panlilio was accompanied by Mr. Tomas R. Cabili, Jr., Mr. Patrick D. Pantaleon of Lasalle Ateneo at Lahat na and others. The forum were attended by about 100 people more or less coming from city government officials, brgy officials, youth, women, NGOs, CSOs and others.
In a speech by Panlilio, he said that he was here not to campaign rather to conduct a Consultative meeting with the media, government officials and all other sectors & people of Iligan as he was urged by many Filipino people to run for President this coming May 2010 Elections.
Panlilio disclosed that he had won as Governor in Pampanga in the last 2007 elections that his constituents fully supported him in the campaign to include its resources that came from the people as he all defeated his opponents; the Quarry Lord and Wetting-Gambling Lord in their province and he is now successful in his good & transparent governance with the support of his supporters in Pampanga, he did and showed the “Leadership by Example”. He collected about P234-million per annum on quarrying alone, he had eliminated the graft & corruptions especially in the bidding of government projects and others, “wala ng lagayan-grease money” and government employees work for an 8 hours a day.
Our country is # 3 in natural resources and # 5 in marine resources in the world but majority of our people are very poor due to mismanagement and graft of corruptions by some of our government officials. Filipinos are good, bright, best bayanihan, makikapwa & makisama but now all these “good moral values” have lost, we have to make reforms with our moral values, so we can attain & solve the plight & poverty problems of our people and we need good leaders that are not corrupt and competent who will hold offices in the government, Panlilio added.
With our current national budget about P1-trillion, allegedly 50% of that goes to personal pockets by some of our government officials. Many Filipinos have migrated to other countries in order to earn greener pasture but after 25 to 30 years, 40% of them want to come back in our country because they are borne here. He is much happy that the participants are still here & remained in the country, Panlilio said.
In an open forum, Panlilio asked that if he becomes the President of the Republic in 2010, what will he do in his 1st year of office? Panlilio replied that he will first address the graft & corruption problems; to appoint secretaries & heads of different government offices that are competent, incorrupt & patriotic people.
On Mindanao peace & order problem, Panlilio will continue the honest to goodness dialogues with the rebels and talk about the root-causes of the problems, to include all people, the Christians, Muslims & Lumads. Also to solve the human rights violations, foods supply, education, infrastructure projects, health care & others. With the intervention of
Panlilio assured the Filipino people to have a good & transparent governance, to solve the graft & corruption problems, the poverty problem of our poor people and the peace & development of the country.
Finally, Mr. Cabili, Jr. said that he was much thankful to the participants who attended this forum and he hopes that Iligan will soon come back its economic boom and its peace & order.
